Nutritional Therapy

The practice of strategically using nutrition to improve health.

Why Nutritional Therapy?

Nutritional therapy uses food and lifestyle to change health. Digestion is key to good health, so we optimize diet and lifestyle for the best results.

People say that aches and pains, digestive discomfort and the like are just things that happen as we get older. It doesn’t have to be that way! For many people, the lifestyle we’ve led has created an environment in the body where it’s not able to function optimally. Once we give it what it needs, the body will respond by restoring itself.

First, we have to (temporarily) remove foods that are causing problems, add in lots of nutrient-dense whole foods and address things like sleep, movement and stress.

This is how we create an environment where the body can restore itself! As it finds balance, those nagging symptoms will reduce and fade away.

Then we’ll support the entire body, but especially the digestive system so that it becomes stronger and more resilient and we can add foods back in without the unpleasant symptoms.

What can I expect from a Nutritional Therapy consultation?

Prior to our first visit, I’ll email you some paperwork to fill out that will give me tons of information about you and your specific situation:

  • A questionnaire where you’ll be asked about over 300 signs and symptoms and how they do or don’t apply to you
  • A food and mood journal, so we can begin to understand how the foods you’re eating do and don’t work for you
  • A health history, so that I can begin to understand who you are

You’ll send all of this to me electronically, and I’ll review and analyze it so that when we meet, we can jump right in to our discussion.

During our first visit (conducted either in person or via Zoom, an easy to use video conference tool), my main goal is to better understand you – who you are and what matters to you. We’ll talk about what you’ve already done to take charge of your health and what has and has not worked for you. Obviously, we don’t want to repeat something that hasn’t worked!

I’ll offer some nutritional and lifestyle suggestions that you’ll implement prior to our next visit.

During our second visit, we’ll see how the initial suggestions have worked for you, and make adjustments as necessary.

Subsequent visits will build on the foundation built in the first two visits. After 2-3 months, you’ll fill out the questionnaire again so we can get a visual of your progress.

The combination of all of these tools gives us a comprehensive picture of where you currently are and where we need to go.

Sounds like a lot of work! What can I expect if I go through all of this?

Of course, that depends on your personal circumstances. Most people start to notice changes within the first week or two. Here are some things that may happen:

  • Increased energy
  • Symptoms of food sensitivities begin to diminish or go away altogether
  • Reduced inflammation, resulting in less muscle and joint pain, less bloating and/or reduction in allergy symptoms
  • Better poops
  • Change in weight

Nutritional Therapy is for you if...

Nutritional Therapy is NOT for you if...

Hi, I'm Kris!

Believe me, I’ve struggled with my own health problems too! And, I have to admit, been quite stubborn about making these lifestyle changes to address them. I’m here to help you learn from my mistakes instead of making your own!

Until my early 40s, I had tons of energy and could eat pretty much whatever I wanted (although in hindsight, I can see the problems started earlier).

Stress is what really put me on the downhill slide – that’s it’s own long story. But it messed up my nervous system, my digestion, my sleep and my hormones.

For a long time, I resisted making the changes I needed to make and things only got worse over time. Doctors didn’t know what to do with me, because my problems were diet and lifestyle based and couldn’t be identified through their testing protocols.

When I started Nutritional Therapy training and working with a Nutritional Therapist myself, I finally started seeing some real results. Over time, I’ve gotten more energy, clearer thinking and have improved my digestive health.

So, my best advice to you?

Listen to your body when it whispers, so you don’t have to hear it scream. Make the changes you need to make now and avoid things getting worse down the road.

In 5 weeks, I lost 11 pounds and hit my goal weight, but more importantly, I feel better, light and healthy. It's amazing the difference this journey has been and it's not over yet! And I have no sugar craving, which was always my downfall. Thanks for showing me a better way to be healthy and enjoy doing it!
